Goin' to the Chapel
I'm officially in club. Casey and Katie were the first of my friends to take that walk down the isle into married life. Then, in February'05 my friend Brooke was next to cross that line of dating but still single to committing to one man for the rest of her life...making Brandon Benke one of the luckiest men in America. Almost a year later, on her 23rd birthday (Jan. 6, 06), Ms. Heidi Zehnder herself got a georgeous antique diamond to sport for the rest of her life for saying yes to Nic when he popped out of a box and popped the question. Next was our good friend Rich who asked his adorable girlfriend Marsha to marry him at Brooke and Brandon's wedding on May 20th this year. Oh and how could I forget about Emily and Rob...Perhaps because I didn't get to see them for more than five minutes at their after party because by the time I got off work at Atomic and got home to find those people who were at the reception passed out like flies all around the house it was a bit later than expected when we finally made it to the bar. And we can't forget my family members. Shannon and Charles tied the knot first in Sept. '04 and Amber and mack got engaged in April of this year and are halfway married. They are married according to Iran but are still just engaged in America.
So with all this wedding fun presenting itself I decided I should do something different and opted to take the baby road...Just kidding, I didn't opt for it...it's just what happened. For those of you who don't know, birth control only works if you take it properly...duh! Anyway, about 6 months or so into our journey to perenthood, Matt kept mentioning that he wanted to aske me something but there always seemed to be some reason that he couldn't. Hmmmmm...that made the wheels in my head start turning. Then one normal night we were lying in bed when he said once again, "I want to ask you something...but I can't." I asked why not and he informed me that it involves other things. So I asked him if it was something he was going to forget to ask and he laughed at me as he said no. I guess he got whatever he needed from that little chuckle because he then told me "I'm going to ask you now." He reached to his bedside table, pulled out a ring and said "Will you marry me?" I responded, "Yeah, I will" then requested a kiss and that he turn on the light. In a previous discussion with Matt and his mom about what I would like in a ring I mentioned that I wanted something that people would see and think "that girl is loved." Come to find out they went on the ring search together and found the perfect one for me. It suits my personality perfectly and is simply stunning. After pretty much four years together one would hope he knows what I'd like. He's always been good at picking out jewelry for me though.
Next thing on the list of things to do is pick a date. We've narrowed it down to September or October 2007. Every other month got voted out for one silly reason or another, which I guess is a good thing cause picking the actual day is taking the longest time. Nevertheless I am in the loop and have joined the ever-so-popular club of those engaged. I'll keep everyone posted on the dates and other news as it arrises. Enjoy the pictures.
